Lincoln County, West Virginia, holds a rich history that dates back to early settlement and various significant events. The region was originally home to Native American tribes, including the Cherokee and Shawnee people. However, this period came with many challenges, including unsafe working conditions, labor disputes, and the tragic events of the Hawk's Nest Tunnel disaster, one of the deadliest industrial accidents in U.S. history.
