Campbell County, Virginia, located in the central part of the state, has a rich and diverse history that spans centuries. The area that is now Campbell County was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Monacan and Saponi tribes. European settlers arrived in the late 18th century, primarily from Scots-Irish and English backgrounds, and began establishing settlements in the region.
