The federal building is also locally significant as a notable example of the Simplified Classical architectural style with Art Deco-style detailing popularized through the federal building projects of the 1930s and 1940s. The building is significant under National Register Criterion A (properties that are associated with events that have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history) and Criterion C (properties that embody a distinctive characteristic of a type, period, or method of construction, or that represent the work of a master).
