Moffat County, located in northwestern Colorado, has a rich and diverse history that spans thousands of years. Since its establishment, Moffat County has primarily relied on industries such as agriculture, mining, and energy. The discovery of large coal deposits in the early 20th century led to the development of numerous coal mines throughout the county.
