This cemetery is at risk of being 'lost', due to overgrowth of vegetation and damage from fallen trees. About 15 graves. Index, earliest about 1911.” L. Moore: Hwy 190 W, right on Hwy 350 for 9.5 mniles, left at 3152, 0.5 miles on right in woods.” Local history note 2002, site endangered.THC site visit MB 1-27-05: Livingston, Tx area. FM 350 to FM 3152 for 0.35 mile, dirt lane to N, R about 0.1 mile, site on R as lane bends into wooded area, 230 ft. from intersection with FM 3152. Fenced site, metal gate. Large fallen tree near entrance carved into entranceway. Formal site with obelisks, some commercial mortuary stones, many large vertical fieldstones and petrified wood markers. Metal chairs. Wooden white crosses. Survey flags indicate unmarked graves. Some floral. May still be in use, ambiguous. Some Oak trees, no obvious marker trees. To address the problem of cemetery destruction and to record as many cemeteries as possible, the Texas Historical Commission offers the Historic Texas Cemetery designation.

The Historic Texas Cemetery designation was developed in 1998 to help protect historic cemeteries by recording cemetery boundaries in county deed records to alert present and future owners of land adjacent to the cemetery of its existence. Every county in Texas has at least one cemetery designated as a Historic Texas Cemetery through this program. The HTC designation is the first step toward preservation of a historic cemetery.

A cemetery is eligible for designation if it is at least 50 years old and is deemed worthy of recognition for its historical associations. The very nature of a cemetery being a landmark of a family’s or community’s presence is considered to validate the criteria of historical associations. Any individual, organization, or agency may submit a request for designation.
