Early Mexia Home

Built in 1883 by J. A. Arvin, a talented local photographer, this Victorian cottage features gingerbread trim. Until 1887 it was a Presbyterian manse. W. C. Day, next purchaser, added first landscaping in Mexia. L. E. Camp, later owner, entertained famed orator William Jennings Bryan in the home in 1896.

J. P. Yeldell bought house, 1912, and here helped plan annual Confederate reunions. Home has been in family four generations.
