Humpty Dumpty Store
218 N. Bryan, Bryan, TXBryan, like most cities in Texas, at one time had a large number of small grocery stores, but the advent of large supermarkets in the post-World War II era caused the abandonment of many of these smaller operations. The Humpty Dumpty store, founded in 1927, provides a vivid reminder of the type of grocery businesses that once were quite common. City directories state that W.A. Stassney was the proprietor of the business from the 1930s through the 1960s. This structure is also representative of the many small businesses that operated in Bryan. The interior, with its wooden shelves, is also noteworthy and possibly original.
Local significance of the building:Listed in National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
