Bryan Compress and Warehouse

This cotton compressing facility was constructed in the mid 1930s to meet the needs of a still-important and productive industry. Beginning in 1907, the three blocks were methodically bought by the Planters Compress Co.

By 1930 two owners had the property (Lawrence Ware-house -- blocks 107 and 108 -- and Farmers Warehouse Co.). The Bryan Compress Warehouse controlled the three blocks the facility now occupies by 1932, about when the existing buildings were constructed. This virtually intact industrial complex stands as the best local example of an industrial enterprise.

Listed in National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
