Hayden, A. W., House
609 Marble St., NW, Albuquerque, NMThis house is significant for its unusual architecture. A. W. Hayden, a contractor, was the first resident, and the probable builder of the house, by the mid-1920's W. D. Irwin, district manager for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company lived here. The area has suffered from intrusions: the modern Albuquerque National Bank offices occupy what used to be St. Vincent School across Marble. But this house sits next to the very compatible Louis McRae House (New Mexico Cultural Properties Register, 7-26-74).
Local significance of the building:Listed in National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation’s historic places worthy of preservation.
