Newton House

1013 E. Ninth St., Austin, TX

The Newton House is a rare and unusually intact Austin example of a transitional, essentially vernacular residence reflecting Hi^ Victorian Italianate and Greek Revival traditions. Deed records indicate the structure was built in 1874 at a cost of $612.50. The structure was not included in the initial Historic Resources of East Austin nomination pending completion of rehabilitation work.
