Hyde Park Historic District
Roughly bounded by Ave. A, 45th St., Duval St., and 40th St., Austin, TXOn relatively level terrain about 20 blocks north of Austin's original town site, the Hyde Park Historic District encompasses a 32-block area roughly bounded by Avenue A, 40th, Duval, and 45th streets. Comprised of land initially platted as a residential suburb of the City of Austin in 1891, the District is characterized by detached single-family dwellings. The initial development period resulted in the construction of Victorian-era dwellings that today comprise approximately 15% of the District's buildings. Bungalow-era dwellings comprise another 80% and other stylistic influences account for approximately 5% of the District's historic resources.
Local significance of the district:Listed in National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
