This structure-- once a school and now a school administration building-- was originally located in the town of Ben Ficklin and served as the County Courthouse.

After an 1882 flood leveled most of the town, this building was dismantled, moved here, and rebuilt in 1884-1885 for use as a school. The 2-story, 63' X 42' structure had 6 classrooms, an assembly hall and 3 recitation rooms. The cupola atop the roof contained a bell. The furniture included a stove and double desks for the pupils. In first year, 9 teachers were employed; superintendent was A. McCrimmon. (1969).
