Along RR tracks, roughly bounded by Hudgins, Dooley, and Dallas Sts., Grapevine, TXThe Cotton Belt Railroad Industrial Historic District encompasses a cohesive collection of late 19th and 20th century buildings occupying the historic transportation focus of Grapevine. They represent the community's evolution as a transportation hub for an agrarian economy based on the development of agricultural processing industries. With dates ranging from the inauguration of rail service through the development of modem agri-businesses in the post war era, these properties reflect the growing prosperity of the community that access to the rail line facilitated. Evaluated within the context of Township Expansion, Commercial and Suburban Development of Grapevine, Texas, this district reflects the broad historic and architectural trends that shaped development patterns in the community. The district is nominated to the National Register under Criterion A in the areas of Commerce and Transportation and under Criterion C in the area of Architecture at the local level of significance.
