Once a center of finance and commerce, the Burk Burnett Building belonged to one of Texas' leading citizens, an energetic and innovative cattleman/banker. It is a handsome example of Neo-Classical detail applied to a tripartite Commercial style building, and was designed by one of the state's leading firms. The architectural and engineering features Sanguinet and Staats incorporated increased the Burk Burnett's prestige, already considerable since it was the tallest building in the city at the time.
