Very well kept. Next to cemetery there was once a Brethern Church, and also a Catholic church. The Brethern cemetery is to the W of Hrancie Cem. Churches moved to Dime Box...— Recorded, SE area, LEE04, LEE05--ParsonsNOT on USGS map. THC site visit MB 9/27/03 Adcacent to Hrancie Brethren Cem but distinctly and separately fenced, tall steel and ornate fence, arch and gate. Graves face E and W, central grassy raised road. Crucifix sculpture central. Some diversity in markers over time, mostly formal, simple to elaborate. Abundant floral and decorative grave materials, religious figurines. Row of old Cedar trees at back. One Cedar marker tree in older NE corner.NOTE: Older structure of outhouse, no longer useable, is just to W of St. Joseph’s fence, on what appears to be Hrancie side. Also piles of brush trimmings. Unclear which or if either cem is assoc. with the outhouse or piles of brush. Surrounded by pasture land and a few farm residences. High hill, vista. To address the problem of cemetery destruction and to record as many cemeteries as possible, the Texas Historical Commission offers the Historic Texas Cemetery designation.

The Historic Texas Cemetery designation was developed in 1998 to help protect historic cemeteries by recording cemetery boundaries in county deed records to alert present and future owners of land adjacent to the cemetery of its existence. Every county in Texas has at least one cemetery designated as a Historic Texas Cemetery through this program. The HTC designation is the first step toward preservation of a historic cemetery.

A cemetery is eligible for designation if it is at least 50 years old and is deemed worthy of recognition for its historical associations. The very nature of a cemetery being a landmark of a family’s or community’s presence is considered to validate the criteria of historical associations. Any individual, organization, or agency may submit a request for designation.
