Location: Null Cemetery-- Blue, Tx (area) Near Sanders Cemetery Recorded: NW area, LEE04, LEE05—Parsons Lee Co, TX Cems, vol 1-2 (1991): FM 696 from Lexington for 8.9 miles, turn left on CR 307 for approx 2.2 miles. Cemetery located about 0.2 mile to the S of, or the left of Sanders Cemetery. Located on top of a hill as you look S on property owned by Harrison grandson Tom Harrison… can remember when he was a child there were several graves in this cemetery, all marked with piles of rocks, no dates or names. In the 1960s he tried to relocate it to restore but was unable to find anything but scattered rocks. He cleared land around it except for one pine tree, that cemetery is near the pine, which is only pine growing around this area. Harrison was told by his mother and grandparents that Null or Noll and Turner families were buried in the area. (1988, deceased) Located on Harrison farm is a very large spring… a supply of water for surrounding community… women took washing … community day of washing and visiting … neighbors came with wagons to haul water home. To address the problem of cemetery destruction and to record as many cemeteries as possible, the
Texas Historical Commission offers the Historic Texas Cemetery designation.
The Historic
Texas Cemetery designation was developed in 1998 to help protect historic cemeteries by
recording cemetery boundaries in county deed records to alert present and future owners of land adjacent
to the cemetery of its existence. Every county in Texas has at least one cemetery designated as a Historic
Texas Cemetery through this program. The HTC designation is the first step toward preservation of a historic cemetery.
A cemetery is eligible for designation if it is at least 50 years old and is deemed worthy of recognition
for its historical associations. The very nature of a cemetery being a landmark of a family’s or community’s
presence is considered to validate the criteria of historical associations. Any individual, organization, or
agency may submit a request for designation.
