Wilkins House

1541 Ashland St., Houston, TX

Possibly the oldest existing residence in Houston Heights; built by S. D. Wilkins, a carpenter for the Omaha and South Texas Land Co. on the first lots sold by Carter in the new town. Wilkins later (1897) became the second postmaster for the Heights. His wife was active in the ladies' clubs of the neighborhood.
