House at 1517 Cortland Street
1517 Cortland St., Houston, TXIt was common in the Heights for many craftsmen to build homes for their own use or to use as rentals. The present structure was built by Hugh Slover, who lived in the 1200 block of Cortlandt and had a carpenter's shop with his brother. is a good example of a basic, early cottage.
