The Roy and Margaret Farrar House (1923) was the home of businessman and civic leader Roy Montgomery Farrar, an early associate of a prominent businessman and philanthropist Jesse H. Jones. Farrar was actively involved in developing the Port of Houston and promoting sound fiscal policies for the city. As a businessman, he gained prominence in both the lumber and banking industries.

The Farrar House (designated a City of Houston Historic Landmark in 2004) is nominated to the National Register of Historic Places at the local level of significance for its association with Roy Montgomery Farrar, a businessman, banker, and influential member of the Houston Port Commission. The property is also nominated as a locally significant example of a Prairie Style home finished with Mediterranean details by local architect Einar Stubee.
