The Lula J. Doughty House is an excellent example of an elaborate Queen Anne influenced cottage in the Houston Heights. It is highly illustrative of the upper, middle-class suburban homes in the area. The high brick piers, Ionic columns, and box bay make this houses an unusual example of the similar small cottages found in the Heights. Lula J. Doughty was the principal of Beauchamp Springs School when she purchased this home in 1909.
