The Austin Copeland House I is significant as a small vernacular dwelling that is particularly well preserved making it an important representative of this type of housing. Further significance is gained because Copeland built this house as his own residence and lived there from 1905 to 1914. This makes it one of the few houses built by its owner for his own home.
