The Charles E. Coombs House is a good example of a Queen Anne influenced cottage built in the Houston Heights at the turn of the century. The detailing and prominent canted bay make a unique statement for this type of dwelling in the neighborhood. Charles E. Coombs, a tank wagon driver for Waters Pierce Oil Company, commissioned the construction of this house and the Coombs family occupied the house for almost 70 years.
