The first record of the house is in 1908 as vacant. Became home of Mayor David Barker in 1911-12; he was active in real estate dealings in the Heights, and in the civic and social activities of the area; also spent six years as mayor of Houston Heights. He was very active in the real estate dealings of the Heights and in the civic and social activities of the area.
