The 1951 B. Ray and Charlotte Woods House is an excellent example of Ranch style architecture in Texas and one of Katy's most characteristic mid-20th century houses.

The 1951 B. Ray and Charlotte Woods House is a well-executed and intact example of Ranch style domestic architecture in Texas and one of Katy's most characteristic mid 20"'-century houses. Designed by Houston architect Wylie W. Vale, the Woods House incorporates the distinctive characteristics of Ranch style houses built across America in the 1950s without fully abandoning Texas' vernacular traditions. Its definitive mid 20th-century design and exceptionally high degree of integrity are unique in Katy and relatively rare in the Houston area, where many of the period's developments have been replaced with newer construction. It is therefore nominated to the National Register under Criterion C in the area of Architecture, at the local level of significance.
