Vickery, Richard, House

1104 E. Marvin, Waxahachie, TX

This is one of the city's premier examples of a two-story L-plan dwelling. It was built in 1885 for Richard Vickery, who was the prime developer of Waxahachie's East End. His business interests in the city were widespread, and he also helped develop the Glenwood addition in Fort Worth. He sold the property in 1901. In 1930 prominent local attorney Will Hancock purchased the house and lived there until 1955.
