Trippet-Shive House

209 N. Grand, Waxahachie, TX

The Trippet-Shive House is one of Waxahachie's finest Queen Anne dwellings. The style was popularized by late nineteenth-century builders, who favored its irregular, picturesque form. While a relatively large number of similarly styled houses were built locally, this is one of the city's best. The dwelling was erected for H. W. Trippet, president of Waxahachie National Bank. He sold it to R. W. Getzendaner, who was vice president of Citizen's National Bank. He donated land for Getzendaner Park in honor of his father. Merchant W. E. Shive bought it in 1930.
