Neal House

704 N. Preston, Ennis, TX

This is a well-executed and intact example of a modified L-plan dwelling, the most common regional plan type. An austere appearance marks the near end of the use of ornate Victorian embellishment after 1900. This structure was the home of Fred W. Neal, who was a conductor for the H. & T. C. Railroad and remained in the family until 1975.
