McCanless-Williams House

402 W. Tyler, Ennis, TX

Well-known local architect, Hix McCanless, built this house for himself in 1910 with then-popular Neoclassical Revival design elements in mind. Building, City Hall, the 1905 John Rowe Building, and the Telfair House. McCanless also was a surveyor and was the city engineer for many years. By 1918 the house was owned by M.B. Williams who maintained ownership through the 1930s.
