Lewis, William, House

1201 E. Marvin, Waxahachie, TX

The Lewis House is one of the city's finest Queen Anne-style dwellings. The style was popularized by late nineteenth-century builders who favored its irregular, picturesque fora. Relatively few large-scale versions, such as this, were built locally. It was built by William F. Lewis, who operated at a lumberyard at 123 Kaufman (No. 1756) C. W. Gibson, a banker, purchased the house in 1907 and owned it until 1920.
