816 W. Water, Waxahachie, TX

When the Waxahachie Textile Mill began operations in the early twentieth century, company officials erected a large number of simple dwellings for mill workers. At one time the mill was almost or Original Site in a mostly residential area west of the CBD; south of the old cotton textile mill completely surrounded by textile mill workers' housing. The vast majority were razed when a low-income public-housing complex was built on the site of most of the mill's houses. Although seven of the old workers' houses survive, this is the best and, without question, the least altered of these structures.
