House at 807 North Preston

807 N. Preston, Ennis, TX

This house illustrates an unusual local variation of a modified L-plan house, the region's most prevalent plan type. Placed on a bias of a 45-degree angle to the street, the primary entrance at the intersection of two equally massed cells is marked by a decorative gable and a five-bay curved porch. This was the home of Dr. W. E. Campbell, a physician, and surgeon, who maintained his office at the Moore Building on N. Main Street.
