Cole-Hipp House

309 E. Marvin, Waxahachie, TX

This house was originally constructed in 1894-95 by the prominent Dallas architectural firm of Flanders and Mood. The dwelling originally featured a massive, irregular plan, typical of many other local Queen Anne-style residences. The house suffered severe damage in a fire before 1914 and was rebuilt, incorporating architectural detailing that was popular at that time. T. J. Cole, president of the Texas Mortgage, was its original owner. From 1916 to 1948 auto dealer W. E. Hipp was its owner. Bibliography, continued: Light, Mechanic's Liens.
