201 E. University, Waxahachie, TXLocal vernacular builders retained traditional forms while executing them in fashionable details. The Berry House is a fine local example of these conservative architectural tendencies. The common regional plan type is updated with Neoclassical Revival porch details. The earliest documented owner is J. S. Berry, a physician, who lived in the house by 1907. In 1920 Dr. C. C. Cooke purchased the dwelling. By the late 1930s William C. Evetts, the city's fire chief, owned the house.
