Mugge, Edward, House
218 N. Terrell, Cuero, TXPerhaps Cuero's most architecturally significant house, this was the residence of Edward Mugge, a German-born banker and businessman who was a principal partner in H. Runge & Co. He was involved in most of Cuero's industrial enterprises, including the cotton compress, the cotton oil mill, and textile mill. Mugge died in 1897 and the house remained in the Mugge name until the 1940s when C.G. Klein is listed in tax rolls as the owner. The house, which was built in stages, features highly ornate woodwork and stands on a large lot just north of downtown.
