Leonardt, Emil, House

804 E. Morgan, Cuero, TX

This was the home of Emil Leonardt, who was owner of the South Texas Ice Co., which was located just west of the Buchel Mill (Survey Site No. 537) in the Morgantown Addition. Leonardt was a highly respected citizen of Cuero and was a well-known business leader. This house burned, according to Sanborn maps, in 1930 and much of the alterations (stucco and additions) were completed about that time. The house was renovated in 1985-86 by the present owners. Despite the ca. 1930 changes, the house illustrates the architectural evolution of a house over a 100-year period and is unique in Cuero.
