First Methodist Church

301 E. Courthouse, Cuero, TX

This structure, with Gothic Revival detailing, was built in 1886 by local contractor Z.A. Finck. Extensive alterations took place in 1929 when a basement was added. The church was organized in February 1876. This is Cuero's oldest extant church and is one of the best local examples of Gothic Revival ecclesiastical architecture. Despite 1929 changes, the structure retains its historic integrity and closely resembles its original appearance.
