Daule, E. A., House
201 W. Newman, Cuero, TXTax rolls show that this house was owned by E.A. Daule from the 1890s through the 1930s. Daule, who graduated from college in Baton Rouge La., came to Cuero in 1890 and assisted C.H. Griggs as a teacher in the local black school. Daule later became the principal of the black high school, serving for about 40 years. The school was later renamed in his honor. In 1948-49 a new black high school was built and was named the Daule High School. He is regarded locally as the man most responsible for developing and upgrading Cuero's black schools.
