Crain, W. H., House
508 E. Courthouse, Cuero, TXProminent local lawyer W.H. Crain erected this house in 1889. He served as district attorney of the 23rd Judicial Court while a resident of Indianola. He moved to Cuero after the 1886 storm and was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, serving it until his death in 1896. Despite its present condition, the house remains a rare example of a side-passage dwelling w/ Greek Revival details. stayed in the Crain family until recently.
Local significance of the building:Listed in National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
