Colston-Gohmert House

309 E. Prairie, Cuero, TX

One of Cuero's finest examples of a modified L-plan dwelling, this structure was built in 1897 for former Indianola school teacher Thomas Colston and his wife Hattie. Tax roll information suggests improvements in 1908-09. At that time, it might have been converted from a simple L-plan to a modified L-plan dwelling with a large hip roof w/ gabled extensions. The Palladian window in the front wing is particularly noteworthy.
