311 E. Broadway, Cuero, TXDr. John Burns erected this house in about 1902. In 1911 he founded the Burns Hospital, one of two privately operated hospitals in Cuero during the early 20th century. It was sold in 1934 to the Sisters of the Incarnate Word Blessed Sacrament. The hospital Dr. Burns resided in this dwelling until his death in 1939. He was a prominent citizen of Cuero and served on the board of directors of many local businesses. This house is Cuero's finest example of Queen Anne-style architecture.
