Wiley, Thomas W., House
105 S. Church, McKinney, TXThis 1-story L-plan dwelling is one of the city's most outstanding examples of an extremely popular vernacular plan-type of late 19th century McKinney. Although houses of identical plan abound locally, this is among the most intact and best preserved. The pedimented window and door surround and the porch support with molded capitals are particularly noteworthy. Its first owner was Thomas Wiley, a physician who came to McKinney from Alabama in 1866. Although Wiley built another home in the 1890s, which was razed in the 1970s, he owned this house on S. Church St. until his death in the 1940s. City directories from various years in the 20th century reveal that it was a rented house.
Local significance of the building:Listed in National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
