Johnson, Thomas, House

312 S. Tennessee, McKinney, TX

The hip-roofed bungalow was a popular house form of the early 20th century. Although this subtype is frequently found in most Texas cities, few were ever built in McKinney. This house, with its Doric columns that are suggestive of Classical Revival architecture, is one of the best local examples. Its original owner is unknown, but by 1924 Thomas Johnson, a vice president of the Collin County National Bank, was the owner, according to city directories.
