Dowell, J. S., House
608 Parker, McKinney, TXJohn Martin, a successful local builder during the late 19th century, is believed to have constructed this house for J.S. Dowell in 1886, and it remained in the Dowell family until 1968. It stands as one of the city's best examples of a 1 1/2-story L-plan dwelling, a common late 19th-century vernacular house type in McKinney.
Local significance of the building:Listed in National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
