Clardy, U. P., House

315 Oak, McKinney, TX

Built in 1898 for U.P. Clardy, this 1 1/2-story dwelling is representative of the type of vernacular houses that were constructed
locally around the turn of the century. The turned and jigsawn porch trim are typical detailing of the period. A large number of similarly detailed dwellings still stand in McKinney, this is one of the most outstanding examples and it remains virtually unaltered. In 1910 T.A. Parris, who served as Collin County Treasurer from 1922 to 1926, purchased the house. It is presently owned by his daughter.
