National Register Listing

Knudson, Christen and Johanne, Farm

SW of Clifton on FM 219, Clifton, TX

Christen and Johanne Knudson arrived in Bosque County in 1868 and were well established by the time of the 1870 U.S. Census and Special Farm Schedule, where they appear as Cris and Johhanne Cannudeson. Presumably, the asymmetrical, two-room stone section of the house was constructed at about that time. Despite the extensive alterations, this early stone house is significant because of its association with the Norwegian settlers of Bosque County.
