Partee, Hiram, House
a.k.a. Wilen Building
605 Belknap Pl., San Antonio, TXThe residence constructed for Hiram Partee is an excellent example of the domestic work of the architect Atlee B. Ayres. Ayres, later to be associated with his son, Robert, was San Antonio's most prominent architect for much of the 20th century. The Mediterranean flavor of the Partee house reflects Ayres' interest in styles suited to the Texas climate. Hiram Partee was a successful businessman and a protege of Charles Schreiner of Kerrville, a prominent rancher, whose daughter Partee married in 1896.
