Lee, Robert E., Hotel

111 Travis St., San Antonio, TX

Built by the Travis Investment Company, the Robert E. Lee Hotel represents the commercial expansion of San Antonio during the early 20th century. Led by prominent local businessmen, the firm redefined the northern edge of the city's business district with construction in the 1920s of four major buildings along Travis Street. Regionally prominent architect Herbert S. Green designed a modem urban hotel typical of the period.
