Kyle Hotel

111 Main St., Temple, TX

Although several hotels were built in Temple between 1890 and the late 1920s, one stands out today for the unique role it played in town. The Kyle Hotel was built in 1928 because existing hostelries could no longer accommodate the demand exerted on the town's facilities by users of its medical community. The hotel's construction and association with Temple's Scott & White Hospital -- a facility that contributed significantly to Temple's early 20th-century reputation as a hospital and medical center -- justify its nomination to the National Register under Criterion A in the area of Medicine at the local level of significance.

Local significance of the building:
Health/medicine
