Built 1842 by Major A. M. Brooks of hand-hewn cedar and pine in Colonial style. Bought 1850's by James H. Wilbarger, son of famous Indian victim Josiah P. Wilbarger.
Home has been scene of social and musical events, and remains in original condition except for additions. Sam Houston, president of Texas, was a famous guest. The house contains family antiques.
Owned by members of fourth family generation, Mrs. Ivor W. Young and Mrs. Lee W. Peterson.
