Old Federal Building-Federal Courthouse

104 Third St., North, Lufkin, TX

Unorthodox variation of common Post Office plan. The hip roof is uncommon as are the Tuscan Doric pilasters. Nominated to the National Register. Currently being renovated as Federal Courthouse. It is said that the federal judges wanted to renovate the structure rather than tear it down to build a new structure. The area of significance is architecture at the local level.
